When designing the seven new stations, the aim is to create sustainable, attractive, and safe environments for passengers. Stockholm's metro network is undergoing a significant transformation and expansion that will greatly improve the region's public transport system.
The line to South Stockholm will have a new station at Slakthusområdet. At the Gullmarsplan station, a new platform will be constructed below the existing station. The South Stockholm branch will be connected to the existing Hagsätra branch (currently on the Green Line), just north of the Sockenplan station.
The line relieves the existing public transport network and makes travel between central and southern Stockholm easier with new convenient transfer points. We are expanding and modernizing the metro depot in Högdalen to accommodate more trains as Stockholm's metro system grows.
The new stations will also contribute to the tradition that Stockholm's metro system has, as the world's longest art exhibition. In station environments, recognisability is important, but each station will also have an individual character to aid orientation within the metro system.
