This event will bring together key stakeholders from across the region to explore the latest trends in energy storage, with a focus on the
In the next strategy period, a key challenge will be accelerating the green transition. This includes the need to diversify the energy mix away from fossil fuels and boost renewable energy capacity to support the decarbonisation of the economy and meet Slovenia's climate neutrality targets.
The Slovenian government has identified green transformation as a priority for its national recovery and resilience plan, allocating at least 43 percent of the EUR 2.5 billion funds requested from the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility toward this transformation.
In 2023, Slovenia's energy supply amounted to 9.58 million tonnes of oil equivalent (Mtoe), of which roughly a third goes to export, including almost 1 Mtoe of electricity. As shown in Figure 3, fossil fuel products, almost all of which are imported, still dominate the country's energy mix.
Another pumped storage hydropower plant is seen by 2045. It would be able to generate 180 MW and store 2.6 GWh. The Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan envisages an overall 500 MW in gas power plants in Slovenia by the end of the decade.
