State of Internet Access in Albania: From Fiber Optics to Satellite
As of early 2025, roughly 19% of users/devices in Albania have access to a 5G signal Internetsociety (reflecting the limited rollout so far), whereas practically all have 4G access.
For the third consecutive year, One Albania has been certified by Omnitele, this year as providing the fastest mobile network and the widest 5G coverage in Albania. The report shows that One Albania has the largest and most modern network in the country.
If one does not take a fixed amount in US dollars, but converts it to the economic output per inhabitant, a user in Albania spends 2.1% of his income on mobile telephony. Worldwide, this rate is around 5.3 percent. In the USA, the monthly cost was around $49.10. There is not yet a modern 5G network in Albania (as of 2023).
The report shows that One Albania has the largest and most modern network in the country. 5G networks should be available to residents in urban and rural areas, at speeds of at least 100 Mbps; Tirana's 5G network should provide 50% of the houses, businesses and public institutions with a mobile broadband service with speeds of at least 1 Gbps. 7.
