Arc Quenching Switchgear minimizes or eliminates damage to switchgear in the event of an arc fault, protecting valuable switchgear assets from arc flash damage. It is designed to reduce peak fault current by at least 25% and peak stress on upstream equipment by at least 44% when compared to a bolted fault device.
Arc faults endanger your staff and threaten the permanent electrical power supply. A fault in the switchgear assembly can soon be an expensive business. So, it is ideal if arc faults are detected and automatically quenched as soon as they arise. Staff enjoy optimum protection and the system is back in operation in the shortest possible time.
For low-voltage switchgear, this rating is also applicable to the secondary door. Type 2 arc-resistant ratings in accordance with IEEE standard C37.20.7 provide for arc-resistant protection around the perimeter of the switchgear with the doors closed.
