720 WATT SOLAR WITH 1000 WATT 12VDC POWER INVERTER CHARGER
*The solar panel array will recharge a 50% depleted battery bank of 400 amps in about 3.5 hours with full sunlight.*
Once you get an idea of charging capacity and your intended use for a solar charger, it's time to figure out what devices you plan on using. For smaller handheld items such as smartphones, a solar power bank with five to fifteen watts should suffice.
In most cases where a 6-watt or larger solar panel is installed, the use of a charger controller is highly recommended. In a nutshell, a solar charge controller acts like an on and off switch, allowing power to pass when the battery needs it and cutting it off when the battery is fully charged.
The battery system should be regularly inspected, maintained, and charged up to the correct voltage. The cost of a 1000 watt solar kit will depend on the brand, panels, and other components included in any particular system. That being said, a no-frills 1000W solution should cost between $1,500 and $3,500.
A 1000-watt (1kW) solar kit produces 3–5 kWh daily, enough to run small devices like lights, phone chargers, or a pond pump. It's great for backup power or small projects but won't power a whole home.
